HIV and Teens and Young Adults
What every young person needs to understand of the importance of the knowing about this disease and being tested. There are so many misconceptions surrounding HIV and AIDS. Myth and misunderstanding are fueled by the media, by fear and by ignorance. Let us look at the real truth: among many things to know there are at least five things, every teen and young adult should know about HIV and AIDS.

HIV does not Discriminate
Since the epidemic began over 20 years ago, the stereotypes have risen as to who HIV infected people are. White gay males, drug users and prostitutes (male and female) are labeled as the faces of HIV and AIDS. Nothing could be along ways from the truth. HIV knows no boundaries and certainly does not discriminate. The true fact is that anyone can get HIV, from an elderly man or woman living in a nursing home to a teen and/or young adults planning his or her next prom or wedding. Men and women, adults and children, rich and poor, the homeless and the college professors. HIV can infect anyone who does not take the proper precautions. Keep this in mind the next time you hear someone say that HIV cannot affect you. Since the epidemic began, over 50,000 teens and young adults like yourselves, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters have contracted HIV and progressed to AIDS, many of them dying before the age of 20.

Oral Sex is Not as Safe as You Think
While mostly everyone knows how HIV is spread from person to person, most teens and young adults underestimate the risk involved in some behavior. Oral sex is often thought of as the safer sex. It isn't incidence among teens and young adults is well documented. Some studies have actually shown that oral sex high schools is as common as kissing was 20 years ago. Many adolescents believe that oral sex is a safe way to engage in sex, free from the worry of pregnancy and disease. The truth according to the statistics is that oral sex is not as safe as you think. The statistics have shown that infected bodily fluids such as semen and vaginal secretions have high concentrations of HIV, and can enter the block stream through the mucous membranes of the mouth.

There is More to Worry About than Pregnancy
With all of the media attention towards HIV that is displayed to the teens and young adults they still do not believe that the only risk associated with unprotected sex is pregnancy. This is why so many teen and young adults are using oral sex as a birth-control techniques or the withdrawal method (pulling out) prior to ejaculation-which is not as effective a prescribed birth control.

STD can Be for Life
The point we are trying to instill is that there is no Cure. Herpes, Syphilis and HIV are real concerns that, if contracted, will be with you a lifetime. All studies made it clear that using some form of latex condoms are a must each and every time you have oral, anal or vaginal sex.

We at J Peter Two are not trying to hide the truth and we realize that not all teens and young adults ignore the risk of HIV. Some ask the important questions of their parents, guardian and/or legal responsible person, or their partners. Consider this thought as to why it is so important to be test and use protection. How many teens and/or young adults you know will admit they are HIV infected if asked by the new love in their life? How many will admit to their sexual history when they are trying to win the affections of their new lover interest? How many teens and/or young people really know their HIV status and the status of the people they have been with a year ago? We provide Street Out Reach - GET TESTED!
